Mikros-Pop

The Mikros-Pop is the first injection molded offering under the Small Lure Company.  Its lineage can be traced back to the original Mikros series by StrategicAngler® created in 2013.  Even though the original 5 inch Mikros series stickbait was designed to be a small lure, it was overbuilt and designed with the best action possible with just a simple retrieve.  This resulted in a compact shape perfect for maximum distance with an amazing swimming presence in the water.  The Mikros-Pop was in a conceptual design phase for several years before its public announcement in late 2023 with its public debut in the summer of 2024.

The Small Lure Company’s Mikros-Pop retains some of the swimming characteristics as the original stickbait.  It pops on the surface of the water with ease, so there is no need for hard long sweeps or hard jerks of the rod tip.  A quick 1-2 second pause after a pop is enough time for it to recover and ready for the next pop.  The Mikros-Pop has a tight and erratic subsurface action with a medium or fast retrieve with the rod tip down, keeping the rod tip up will make it skip on the surface like a flying fish trying to take off.  The Mikros-Pop has a built in medium frequency rattle that doubles as a shifting ballast which gives the lure an audible “thunk” designed to spark the interest of any predators.  This ballast also moves to the back of the lure during the cast extending its range and while at rest, keeping it in a diagonally upright position similar to a traditional stickbait.

The Mikros-Pop is currently available in a 5 inch size (130mm) and in 6 different global color patterns, each representing some of the most predominant baitfish across the world.  Each lure pattern has been tested in various fisheries from the Outerbanks to the Northeast atlantic, Western pacific, Australia and Hawaii and has successfully captured numerous species from each region.  The Mikros-Pop has been tested on pelagics weighing up to 60 lbs.  The Mikros-Pop comes already rigged with the appropriate saltwater grade hooks and split rings and is shipped in a specially designed 100% recyclable or compostable cardboard box.

Pattern:  Flying fish
Deep blue with color shifting back.  Hand painted flying fish wings with a hard spot provides contrast, the pink operculum adds a depth of realism making it look like an injured baitfish.  Perfect for all conditions nearshore and offshore.

Pattern:  Mahi mahi
Fluorescent greens and yellows with a blue pearl back and lateral spotting.  The silver belly provides extra contrast while sitting diagonally on the water’s surface.

Pattern:  Bunker/Pogie
Dark brown/blue hue back with bright yellow tail to mimic bay bunker or menhaden during their migratory run.  The pectoral spots have been enhanced to provide a strong contrast especially in turbid waters.  Hints of purple and gold completes this bunker design.

Pattern:  Pearl white
A favorite amongst all shore/nearshore anglers.  White base with a pearl white back and a bright silver belly.  A little yellow hue on the operculum creates a strike trigger on an otherwise simple looking design.

Pattern:  Hot Pink
A bright, high contrast universal color pattern for both nearshore and offshore anglers. The fluorescent pink on the back makes this lure glow in the water column and contrasts with the silver belly.  Pink has always been anomaly since there are no true pink baitfish, but we all know this color works very well!

Pattern:  Sand eel
A staple for any angler, the sand eel (or sand lance) color pattern is a favorite of any predatory species.  The darker olive green back fading to a lighter green yellow is a common color for most juvenile baitfish.
